Description

This dramatic art print shows a woman in a white lace dress holding a stack of old, leather-bound books, heavy chains wrapped around her wrists and neck. Available as an aluminum metal print (4x6 to 20x30 in) or archival fine art paper print (4x6 to 24x30 in), made to order in the USA, it suits home libraries and dark academia studies — a fitting gift for librarians and free speech advocates.

It's the most direct statement in the collection about the cost of holding onto ideas, the soft white lace holding its contrast against the dark iron chains for years.

Does this print come framed? No. Every print ships unframed. Frames and styling shown in the photos are for display only and are not included.

Why chain a person to books rather than showing the books alone? Adding the figure turns an abstract idea, censorship or restricted knowledge, into something visibly personal and costly, which lands with more weight than an empty stack of books ever could on its own.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our fine art prints are available as Aluminum Metal Prints or Archival Photo Paper Prints, depending on the design and your preferred style.
Our aluminum metal prints are waterproof, weatherproof, and scratch-resistant, making them a great choice for spaces exposed to moisture or sun. Our archival paper prints are intended for indoor display.
Aluminum metal prints are easy to clean with a standard glass cleaner and a soft cloth.
Metal prints arrive ready to hang with Command Strips included. Archival paper prints are delivered unframed so you can choose your own frame and display style.
Choose an aluminum metal print if it will hang outdoors or in a humid space like a bathroom — it's waterproof and scratch-resistant. Choose archival photo paper if it's for indoor display only; paper prints offer a more traditional, matte finish perfect for framing.
Smaller prints (4x6 in to 8x10 in) work well for shelves, desks, or gallery walls, while 16x20 in and larger make a strong statement piece over a sofa, bed, or fireplace. Most designs are available in both square and rectangular sizes.
