Description

This dark, gothic take on the Mad Hatter — a figure in a top hat with an unsettling grin, closer to horror than a tea party — prints as luminous aluminum metal (4x6 to 20x30 in) or archival fine art paper (4x6 to 24x30 in), made to order in the USA, and suits libraries, offices and any gothic or dark academia room. The stark contrast to the colorful version shows how far one character can stretch.

The deep shadow and muted palette hold their unease for years, so it fits a dark academia or gothic room comfortably.

Does this print come framed? No. Every print ships unframed. Frames and styling shown in the photos are for display only and are not included.

Why do interpretations of the Mad Hatter vary so widely? Because the character is public domain, illustrators and artists have reimagined him for over a century without licensing constraints, ranging from Tenniel's original whimsical drawings to considerably darker modern takes like this one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our fine art prints are available as Aluminum Metal Prints or Archival Photo Paper Prints, depending on the design and your preferred style.
Our aluminum metal prints are waterproof, weatherproof, and scratch-resistant, making them a great choice for spaces exposed to moisture or sun. Our archival paper prints are intended for indoor display.
Aluminum metal prints are easy to clean with a standard glass cleaner and a soft cloth.
Metal prints arrive ready to hang with Command Strips included. Archival paper prints are delivered unframed so you can choose your own frame and display style.
Choose an aluminum metal print if it will hang outdoors or in a humid space like a bathroom — it's waterproof and scratch-resistant. Choose archival photo paper if it's for indoor display only; paper prints offer a more traditional, matte finish perfect for framing.
Smaller prints (4x6 in to 8x10 in) work well for shelves, desks, or gallery walls, while 16x20 in and larger make a strong statement piece over a sofa, bed, or fireplace. Most designs are available in both square and rectangular sizes.
